Track 10 - "I HATE SATURDAY NIGHT"

This is another song I wrote with the idea of someone else singing it, specifically a talented young singer named D.W. James with whom I was working shortly before I left Ontario. D.W. never performed it and now has shelved his music career, a great loss to music but a gain for the people of Ottawa who he now serves as a police officer. I can't think of anyone I've ever met who I thought epitomized the virtues we could wish for in our 'men in blue' more than Dave. Good luck to you my friend.

And although Steve Pineo may take my proscription of playing cards with him and the boys personally it's really just something I'm not disposed to do. I'll happily drink the beer and listen to music though ....

"I HATE SATURDAY NIGHT" lyrics

Terry showed up about seven o'clock, a case of beer in the back of his car.
He's all revved up and ready to rock, he'll go fast but he won't go far.
I'm telling him to count me out but I know he's countin' me in,
And who am I kiidding? in an hour or two it'll all start to happen again.

CHORUS
But I hate Saturday night
Without you here it just don't feel right
I'm up with the boys 'til the morning light,
But I hate Saturday night.

Girl when you left I didn't call, I was showing you that I was tough.
I guess you got the last word after all when you never even called my bluff
Now I'm staring at a losing hand just wishing you were here.
Instead of these hard-living pals of mine, playing cards and drinkin' beer.

CHORUS
But I hate Saturday night
Without you here it just don't feel right
I'm up with the boys 'til the morning light,
But I hate Saturday night.
