Track 1 - "PRETTY LIES"

The title cut of the cd, Pretty Lies was written while I was still in Toronto. The song is about that curious phenomenon of being unable to let go of someone no matter how badly they treat you ...

David Wilcox is featured on electric guitar and I can't tell you how honoured I am to have him play on my music. No one I have ever played with, or, for that matter, no one I have seen or heard play has inspired and encouraged me as much, both before I had met him when I was just a fan, and since, when he became my friend. Thank you Karl, for sharing your gift with all of us.

On this song and some others on this cd I am playing my mother's old Hofner parlour guitar, the instrument pictured on the cd and the guitar on which I learned to play.

"PRETTY LIES" --Lyrics

I've got friends who are young and foolish
I've got friends who are old and wise
But I've got one friend who takes my loving
And gives me kisses and pretty lies

Well I know people who make me nervous
I know people who I despise
But worse than them, for me, is the woman
Who gives me kisses and pretty lies

One day I left, I said 'forever'
Well ain't it strange how anger dies?
I'm going back now to see that woman
For more excuses and pretty lies

I've got friends who are old and foolish
I've got friends who are young and wise
But I've got one friend who takes my loving
In exchange for kisses and pretty lies
She gives me kisses and pretty lies.
