Track 4 - "WITHOUT A HEART"

Just a silly song with a double entendre as the punch line of the chorus. The 'hero' wants a bunch of things back, some practical, some frivolous, including but not limited to his heart.
This song was a rock song in its first incarnation with electric guitars but I 'acoustic'-ed it up and it now inhabits the strange nether-world between pop and folk ... My old friend Russ Prowse sings the principal harmony line and I fill in the blanks.

"WITHOUT A HEART" -- lyrics

I've got your watch, it keeps bad time
But I'll trade it back for some things of mine
You've got my skis, and my spare keys
And all my Ann Rice books and my Prince cd's
And you've got my ring, but there's just one thing.

CHORUS
And I want it back
It's hard to explain
But I just don't feel the same without a heart
I want it back
I miss it every day
Would you let me walk away without a heart?

You can keep the cat. He always liked you best
I've got the pictures that I want, you can keep the rest.
Who gets the wine rack? And I want that shirt back
You can leave it on the front porch in my Pepsi knapsack
You can keep the ring, there's really just one thing

CHORUS
And I want it back
It's hard to explain
But I just don't feel the same without a heart
I want it back
I miss it every day
Would you let me walk away without a heart?

--Mandola solo--

Forget about the ring, there's really just that one thing.

CHORUS
And I want it back
It's hard to explain
But I just don't feel the same without a heart
I want it back
I miss it every day
Would you let me walk away without a heart?
